EXAR
Electronic guitar effects and analog musical accessories
About the manufacturer
EXAR Electronix is a Polish brand associated with the design and manufacture of electronic guitar effects and musical accessories. The company began operating in the mid-1980s in Ostrołęka and was founded by electronics engineers interested in guitar tone and analog effect circuits.
The brand became known for compact stompbox effects including overdrive, distortion, fuzz, flanger, chorus, wah, compressor and noise-gate devices. EXAR products were developed as analog solutions for both amateur musicians and stage use.
An important part of the company approach was combining classic analog circuit concepts with its own tonal modifications and robust housings intended for live performance. Today, EXAR pedals are also found on the used market and are recognized by enthusiasts of Polish guitar equipment.
EXAR Electronix should not be confused with Exar Corporation, the American semiconductor company. The two entries represent completely different businesses.
In practical use, analog effects are typically inserted between the instrument and amplifier or placed in a pedalboard signal chain. Their behavior depends not only on the effect topology but also on input level, gain structure, bypass arrangement and interaction with other pedals.
Applications
EXAR devices are primarily intended for shaping audio signals in instrument chains and amplification systems.
EXAR products available from Maritex
The EXAR range available from Maritex includes selected electronic products and accessories associated with this specialist brand. Because EXAR operates in a niche musical-electronics segment, the range is narrower than for conventional component manufacturers.
Available product groups include:
For EXAR products, the key selection factor is matching the device function to the required signal path and tonal result.
Important parameters include the type of effect, power supply, signal level, connector format and the way the device will be integrated with the rest of the musical setup.
Selection should consider the required effect type, gain range, bypass behavior, supply voltage and polarity, input/output connector format and compatibility with the rest of the instrument signal chain.
