MOLEX

Connectors and interconnect systems

About the manufacturer

Molex was founded in Illinois, United States, in 1938 as a plastics manufacturer. Over the following decades it developed electrical-connection technology and became an important supplier of connectors and interconnect systems to the electronics industry. The brand now covers signal, power and data-transmission solutions, cable assemblies and technologies for automotive and communications markets. Molex’s history reflects the transition from basic mechanical components to sophisticated, miniaturised electronic interfaces.

The main technical solutions associated with MOLEX include wire-to-board connectors, board-to-board connectors and signal and power connectors. Connectors provide detachable power, signal and data links in electronic equipment. Contact geometry, normal force, housing materials and assembly determine connection reliability. High-speed and harsh-environment applications require a compatible complete connector family.

Applications

MOLEX solutions are relevant to applications where component characteristics must be matched to the final equipment:

machine automation
industrial electronics
computing equipment
data communication
measurement devices
power connections
