MEAN WELL BIC-5K – 5kW Grid-Tied Bidirectional AC⇄DC Power Supply for Energy and V2G Applications

With a rated power of 5,000W, the BIC-5K enables efficient bidirectional AC⇄DC energy conversion, supporting both battery charging and energy recovery back to the grid.
True bidirectional energy management
The BIC-5K supports:
- AC → DC conversion for battery charging,
- DC → AC conversion for feeding recovered energy back to the grid.
This regenerative capability helps enterprises:

High performance and fast switching
Designed with a fully digital architecture, the BIC-5K offers:
- efficiency up to 93.5%,
- ultra-fast bidirectional switching <1ms,
- low THDi (<3%) and high power factor up to 0.99,
- wide input range 180–305 Vac.
Parallel operation enables system expansion up to 30 kW (5+1 units), making it suitable for scalable industrial systems.
Industrial integration and protection
Key integration features include:
- built-in CANBus or MODBus communication,
- multi-unit configuration for three-phase (3Ø) systems,
- comprehensive protection: anti-islanding, AC abnormality, DC over-voltage, overload, short circuit, and over-temperature.
The unit operates within -30°C to +70°C and features PCB conformal coating for enhanced durability in demanding environments.
