Finder and Relpol SPDs – New to the Maritex Permanent Range

A voltage surge may last only a fraction of a second, yet damage to a controller, inverter or communication device can lead to costly downtime. That is why we are adding Finder and Relpol surge protection devices (SPDs) to Maritex's permanent product range. We are expanding the choice of protection solutions for low-voltage installations, industrial automation and selected DC, PV and signal circuits.
Whether in a distribution board, a photovoltaic installation or a data transmission system, high-quality components are essential.
Why include SPDs in your design?
Surge protection devices divert surge currents and limit the voltage appearing across protected circuits as a result of lightning strikes or switching operations. Properly selected and coordinated protection stages help reduce the risk of damage to electronics, equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
Three protection stages – different functions:
|
SPD TYPE |
FUNCTION IN THE INSTALLATION |
TYPICAL LOCATION |
|
T1+T2 |
Protection against lightning currents, induced surges and switching surges. |
Installation entry point; main distribution board. |
|
T2 |
Limitation of induced and switching surges. |
Main distribution boards and sub-distribution boards. |
|
T3 |
Supplementary final protection for sensitive equipment. |
Close to equipment; coordinated with upstream SPD stages. |
Typical applications
- Control cabinets and industrial automation
- Building and industrial distribution boards
- HVAC systems
- Inverters and PV installations
- LED lighting
- Selected data and communication lines.
Two complementary product ranges:
|
Finder / 7P series
A wide SPD range: T1+T2, T2 and T3 versions for AC networks, photovoltaic versions (selected models rated up to Ucpv 1500 V DC), plus protection for LED luminaires and Ethernet/PoE lines. Selected variants offer replaceable modules, visual status indication and remote signalling. |
Relpol / RSP and RSP-E series
SPDs for AC installations and selected DC circuits: RSP-T1T2, RSP-T2, RSP-T2T3 and RSP-E. T1+T2 solutions include RSP-E25 versions with a lightning impulse current rating (Iimp) of 25 kA per pole. Depending on the variant, different pole arrangements, replaceable modules and status signalling are available. |
What to consider when selecting an SPD?
|
Uc / Ucpv |
Maximum continuous operating voltage; for PV, consider the maximum open-circuit voltage of the string. |
|
Up |
Voltage protection level – must match the withstand capability of the protected equipment. |
|
Iimp, In, Imax |
Iimp: lightning current impulse, 10/350 µs; In and Imax: 8/20 µs surges. |
|
Network and installation |
TN-C, TN-S or TT; protection configuration, backup protection, earthing and stage coordination. |
Protection tailored to the application
Not all SPDs are interchangeable. Before selecting a device, verify the power system type, installation location, operating voltage, applicable standards and specifications of the exact part number. This is especially important for PV installations and signal lines.
